Our family loves Swedish Meatballs! The meatballs are so juicy and the sauce is velvety smooth; really what’s not to love! And making them in the crock pot is SO easy.
It’s a dump and go type of recipe with frozen meatballs, for a short cut, and simple ingredients, like cream of mushroom soup, French onion soup, beef broth, and sour cream.
This dish can be ready in just 2 hours, making it a perfect weeknight dinner the whole family will devour! Spoon these meatballs over fluffy mashed potatoes or egg noodles with your favorite veggie or a salad.
What you’ll need:
6-8 quart crock pot
32 ounce bag frozen meatballs
10.5 ounce cream of mushroom soup
10.5 ounce can French onion soup
1 cup beef broth
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp garlic powder
1 packet au jus gravy mix or brown gravy
1 tbsp worchestershire sauce
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 cup Sour cream
How to make it
Spray the crock pot with non-stick spray or use a crockpot liner. Place the meatballs into your crockpot. If you have a giant bag of meatballs, use about 40 meatballs.
Dump it in: Add in the beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, French onion soup, onion powder, garlic powder, the packet of gravy, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Don’t worry about mixing everything, as that can be hard with the frozen meatballs sticking to each other; the crock pot will do all the work. 🙂
Cover and cook on low 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
Stir the meatballs, spoon in the sour cream and mix until the sour cream melts into the sauce. Use 1/2 to 1 cup of sour cream, just eyeball it until you get the consistency you like.
*Plain Greek yogurt can be substituted for the sour cream.
We love these over a big pile of creamy mashed potatoes or egg noodles. Sprinkle a little parsley or green onions over top.
