  • Crock Pot
  •  Stew meat– get the pre-cut cubes, but you can get a chuck roast and cube it yourself.
  • Brown gravy-your favorite brand
  • Cream of mushroom soup– I’m using cream of mushroom with roasted garlic for extra flavor, use any type you like.
  • Mushrooms– baby bellas, button or white mushrooms all work. Leave these out if you don’t like mushrooms.
  • Frozen pearl onions– I personally love the bite of little pearl onions. You can easily substitute yellow or white onions, diced.
  • Seasonings– garlic, dried parsley, oregano, salt, pepper
  • Beef broth
  • Cornstarch and cold water to thicken the gravy at the end
  • Egg noodles for serving

How to Make it

Spray the crock pot with nonstick cooking spray

Add in the stew meat, brown gravy packet, cream of mushroom soup, onions, mushrooms, garlic, and seasonings.

Mix together.

Cover and cook on low 7-8 hours or on high for 4 hours.

Mix together the cornstarch and cold water to make a slurry, pour into the crock pot and mix well.

Cook on high 15-20 minutes to thicken the gravy.

Meanwhile, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Pour the cooked noodles into the beef, mix and serve.

This is a great recipe. I made it in my instapot for 50 minutes. I dredged with flour and browned my meat quickly before putting in the pot. I left off the cornstarch. Left off the mushrooms also. Turned out great with perfect gravy!

We both thought this recipe was not only easy but delicious! The only changes I made were to use 1 pound of stew meat, a handfull of frozen diced onions, and about 4 ounces of thickly sliced mushrooms. I wondered which to use, ground or dried, but used less ground oregeno than called for. It makes a lot! Next time I’ll try freezing half of the meat mixture before adding the noodles for a quick meal later.
