I always have a pack or two of kielbasa and smoked sausage in my fridge/ freezer for quick meals. It seems like kielbasa is on sale often at my store, so I stock up when it is. It keeps for a long time, too, so it’s great to have on hand!

This meal is easily made in your air fryer and cooks in less than 15 minutes. The most time consuming part is cutting the kielbasa and veggies, which you can actually prep ahead of time and refrigerate together until you’re ready to eat!

I’m using a ready made Cajun seasoning blend to make it even easier. This recipe is just 5 simple ingredients! Kielbasa and peppers is so versatile. Enjoy this dish by itself for a low carb dinner, serve it over rice (like I did), or spoon the mixture in to sandwich buns. Delicious!

What you’ll need

  • Air Fryer– I have the Cosori TurboBlaze air fryer and absolutely love it!
  •  Kielbasa– or substitute smoked sausage. I prefer the skinless Polska kielbasa from Eckrich, but use what you like
  • Bell peppers– any color
  • Onion– I like the Vidalia onions in this, but a red onion or yellow onion would be great
  • Olive oil
  • Cajun seasoning-or use a blend of your favorite seasonings. Anything goes!

How to make it

Prep your ingredients: Slice your kielbasa into coins, dice the peppers and onions. Keep the peppers and onions larger to cook at the same rate as the kielbasa.

Tip!

You can do all of the slicing a day or two before to make dinner even easier! Just add the kielbasa and vegetables together in an air tight container and store in the fridge until ready to cook.

Mix it: Add all ingredients to a mixing bowl and mix together until well coated.

Tip!

Save yourself from extra dishes and add all ingredients to the air fryer basket and mix together in the basket.

*If your basket is smaller, cook in 2 batches or use one package of kielbasa instead of 2 packages. You don’t want to over crowd the basket.

Cook it: Air fry at 400°F for 10-13 minutes (I like my kielbasa crispy so 13 minutes is good for me. Cook less if you don’t like crispy kielbasa)

Serve your kielbasa alone, over rice, or in sandwiches. Enjoy the easiest dinner ever!

Side dish ideas

Serve your kielbasa and peppers alongside a crisp 1905 Salad, Macaroni Salad, Dill Pickle Potato Salad, Oven Roasted Red Potatoes, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, or a fresh Cucumber Tomato Salad.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you do not like your kielbasa crispy, check it at 9-10 minutes to see if it’s done to your liking. I love mine on the crispy-almost burnt-side, so 13 minutes is perfect for me.
  • If you are cooking your kielbasa, peppers, and onions for 10 minutes, cut the veggies smaller so they are tender when finished.
  • Don’t like peppers and onions? No problem! Sub them with a different veggie, such as broccoli, zucchini, carrots, or asparagus.
  • Not a fan of Cajun seasoning? Try a blend of garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning. Lemon pepper would be great!
