If you have a can of refrigerated biscuit dough, you can have homemade donut holes! These deliciously sweet donuts require only 4 simple ingredients, an air fryer and 10 minutes. These are perfect for a lazy weekend breakfast or any time a donut craving hits.

My family LOVES these little donut holes! We really cannot get enough and the kids start fighting over them or negotiating for the last donut. These are perfect for a holiday morning, too!

There’s so many things you can make with biscuit dough- besides biscuits, of course! Try Pepperoni Pizza Monkey Bread or Pie Biscuit Bombs.

What are my coating options?

My family’s favorite is definitely the cinnamon and sugar donuts. I also made some with powdered sugar. We like both, but I think the cinnamon sugar wins.

A glaze would also be delicious. Mix a splash of milk with 1 cup of powdered sugar to make a glaze and dip the warm donuts in the glaze. You can flavor the glaze with vanilla or strawberry. A cream cheese glaze would be scrumptious!

Also try coating in chocolate ganache or dusting with cocoa powder. You can even get fancy and fill the donuts with jelly, a cream, or chocolate.

What you’ll need

  • Air Fryer- I have the Cosori TurboBlaze Air Fryer and I love it!
  • 1 can refrigerated biscuits (10 count)- You can also use the Grands size biscuits. If using the Grands, cut the biscuits into quarters instead of in half. Either way make sure to get the flaky layers.
  • Granulated sugar and cinnamon for the topping. Try pumpkin pie spice instead of the cinnamon for a fall treat.
  • Unsalted butter, melted- to roll the biscuits in before the cinnamon sugar to make it stick.

How to make the donut holes

Preheat the air fryer to 350° for 4 minutes.

Open the can of biscuit dough and separate the biscuits.

Cut each biscuit in half. Roll each half into a ball.

Place dough balls the preheated air fryer and cook for 8 minutes, flipping halfway. Don’t crowd the air fryer basket, you may have to cook the holes in batches.

While the donut holes are cooking, prepare the topping mixture.

Place the butter in a bowl and microwave in 30 second increments until the butter is melted. Add cinnamon and sugar to a mixing bowl and whisk together.

When the donuts are finished, allow them to cool enough to handle. Submerge each donut hole in the melted butter and then immediately roll in the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Dessert Style

Turn these into a decadent dessert by add a drizzle of warm chocolate, honey, or caramel sauce. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream along side the donuts. Delicious! If you’ve ever tried sopapillas, it would be similar.
