How to make truffles

Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.

Using a food processor, pulse the Oreos until they are a fine dust. Add to a large mixing bowl with the softened cream cheese.

Using an electric mixer, mix the Oreos and cream cheese together until well combined.

Using a cookie scoop, form 40 balls from the mixture into a 1 inch size and place on the sheet pan.

Freeze for 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, melt the candy melts according to package directions, working with one color at a time.

Doing one color at a time dip 12 cookie balls in blue candy coating, turning to evenly coat each ball with candy coating. Return to baking sheet and immediately top with sprinkles.

Repeat with red and white candy melts, coating 16 red and 12 white balls. Return back to the sheet pan and refrigerate 1 hour to set.

Arrange into an American Flag like pictured.

If you have trouble with melting the candy wafers, this is a helpful tutorial HERE.

I used to use a double boiler when melting chocolate or candy wafers, but I found that method to be harder to control than melting them in a microwave. My chocolate would seize up half of the time, so I prefer melting the wafers in the microwave now.

Whichever method works best for you, do that 🙂
