You are going to love these truffles! I make these for my family around Valentine’s Day as a special treat and they disappear as fast as I can say brownie truffles.
These chocolate truffles are made with 3 simple pantry ingredients: your favorite boxed brownie mix, chocolate frosting, and chocolate melts or chocolate chips. So easy!
How to make Brownie Truffles
Make the brownies: prepare and bake the boxed brownies according to the package directions. When the brownies are cool enough to handle, crumble them into a mixing bowl. I won’t tell if you want to eat all of the crispy edges first. 😉
Add 1 cup of chocolate frosting and mix together using a hand mixer.
Scoop the truffles: Using a 1” cookie scoop or a tablespoon, scoop the mixture into balls and place on a parchment lined sheet pan. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
TIP! Add a maraschino cherry to the middle when rolling the balls for a surprise inside!
Freeze the truffles: Freeze 30 minutes on the sheet pan. Freezing first helps the truffles to hold their shape and make them easier to handle when dipping in the melted chocolate.
Prepare the chocolate coating: Melt the chocolate wafers or chocolate chips in a double boiler on the stove or in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl, stirring often until melted.
I prefer a double boiler because it keeps the chocolate warm while you’re dipping in the truffles and, in my opinion, makes them easier to work with.
Double boiler: Add water in a saucepan and place a heat safe bowl on top (I always use glass). Make sure the water comes just below the bowl without touching it. Pour the chocolate wafers into the bowl and bring the saucepan to a simmer. Stir the chocolate occasionally until smooth and melted.
Dip in the chocolate: drop each ball into the melted chocolate and use 2 forks to roll them around and lift out, scraping the excess chocolate. Return to the sheet pan and top with sprinkles or flaky sea salt. Continue until all of the balls are coated in chocolate.
Finishing: Allow the chocolate to set and enjoy! Store leftovers in the fridge.
Freeze the brownie truffles in a freezer safe container for up to one month.

Made these for a baby shower and a birthday party for a friend. They were so easy to make and everyone loved them. I used melted chocolate chips instead of the melted wafers. Melted chocolate chips were too thick to work with so wafers worked so much better for me the second time I made them. Also stuffed each on with a maraschino cherry and said my husband.
Love it with a cherry inside! So happy you loved them!
2/14/24 – Made this for a small gathering of friends last night – 5+stars!! Easy to do & DELICIOUS! Everybody who likes chocolate loved this. DEFINITE repeater. Just know it takes a little bit of time but well worth it. The salt on the chocolate was unexpectedly good.
So happy to hear!! Thank you for sharing!
