1. Hocus Pocus Charcuterie

This is a must make every year for us! I love crafting a meat, cheese, and snack board to resemble the spooky Sanderson sisters. It’s perfect for a Hocus Pocus double feature.

Hocus Pocus Charcuterie Board

You’ll need a serving platter. This one would be great! For this board I used a round of gouda cheese with blackberries for hair on Mary (far right sister). Winnie is made from a wheel of brie cheese and salami rolled up for her iconic hairstyle. Sarah is a small wheel of white cheddar cheese with thin slices of sharp cheddar cheese arranged as her hair.

I used strawberries cut small for the lips and I used a black edible marker to draw on the eyes. After that you can add anything you like or have on hand. I used white chocolate pretzels, chocolate covered almonds, pretzels, red grapes, jelly pumpkins, blueberries, crackers and a sliced baguette.

This board is so fun to make! It can be a huge spread or a little plate and anything goes!

2. Book Brownies

Speaking of Hocus Pocus, why not make a sweet treat to go along with your Sanderson Sisters charcuterie!? You can really let your creativity run wild here. I just used an easy box mix of brownies made to package instructions. I let it cool and cut into squares and used black and white icing to decorate.

If you are really good with a piping bag you could make these very intricate. Or do one big Book Brownie! Definitely a must for any Hocus Pocus watch party.

3. Vampire Donuts

All you need for these cute creatures are candy eyeballs, toy fangs, and donuts. Start your Halloween morning off right with a sweet treat for breakfast.

4. Pumpkin Cupcakes

A deliciously easy way to dress up boxed mix cupcakes. Prepare your favorite flavor of cupcakes and let them cool completely. Fill a piping bag fitted with a large round tip (Wilton 2A) with orange colored buttercream or frosting. You can make it from scratch (Wilton recipe below), add food coloring to store bough vanilla frosting, or I’ve seen pre-made buttercream in various colors in the bakery section of some grocery stores.

Use the end of a large pretzel rod or a Tootsie Roll as the stem and green icing for the leave. Simple and adorable!

Find Wilton’s fluffy buttercream recipe along with other tips and tricks here.

5. Mummy Oreos

White chocolate dipped Oreos with candy eyes and white chocolate drizzled over for the bandages. These mummies look great on a treat board or displayed for a party.

Melt a bag of white chocolate chips or white candy melts in a deep bowl in the microwave on 30 second intervals until melted, stirring after each interval. Drop in each cookie and flip to coat on both sides. Remove to a cooling rack. I like to use two forks to flip the cookies in the chocolate and to easily remove.

Before the white chocolate sets add 2 candy eyes and gently press them in to the chocolate.

Pour the melted white chocolate in to a small Ziploc sandwich bag. Snip off one corner and drizzle over each cookie for the bandages. Let the chocolate set.

6. Mini S’mores Pies

The perfect little sweet treat in individual graham cracker pie shells. Only 3 ingredients and five minutes to make!

You’ll need a pack of 6 mini graham cracker pie shells, chocolate bars, and the Halloween marshmallow peeps. Any variety! I’ve seen pumpkins, ghosts, and Frankenstein.

Aren’t these so cute! Gather your ingredients and assemble. Place the pie shells on a sheet pan. Add in 3 pieces of chocolate and a marshmallow peep on top. Bake at 400ºF for 3-5 minutes until the chocolate is melted and the marshmallows are toasted.

7. S’mores Dip

Looking for an easy dessert for a crowd (or hungry family?) Try making s’mores in a baking dish!

Halloween s'mores dip

This recipe couldn’t be simpler!

You’ll need:

Preheat the oven to 450ºF. Lightly spray your baking dish with nonstick spray. Pour in the chocolate chips and place the marshmallows on top. Bake 7-10 minutes until the chocolate is melted and marshmallows are browned. Careful it will be hot!

Use graham crackers for dipping. It’s the perfect sharing dessert!

9. Chocolate Pretzel Spiderwebs

These are a fun activity to make with kids! My kids love to decorate with sprinkles.

What you’ll need:

  • White chocolate and semi sweet chocolate chips- how much depends on how many spiderwebs you want to make. Half of 1 bag of chips will make approximately 8 spiderwebs.
  • Halloween sprinkles
  • Pretzel sticks
  • Parchment lined sheet pans

How to make chocolate spider webs:

  1. Carefully arrange the pretzel sticks on the parchment lined sheet pan into a spiderweb shape.
  2. Melt the chocolate chips over a double boiler or in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring every 30 seconds.
  3. Pour the chocolates into separate small Ziploc sandwich bags and snip off the corner. Pipe the chocolate on to the pretzels in a round circle to resemble spider webs. I like to do all white chocolate first, then all milk chocolate, rather than melting both at the same time. I find it easier to complete all of one variety then melt the other.
  4. Immediately decorate with colored sugar and sprinkles.
  5. Pop into the fridge to set for at least 5 minutes or until you’re ready to eat.

10. Ghost Hash Browns

Perfect for a fun Halloween morning breakfast! And so easy! These go perfect with Vampire Donuts.

Aren’t these the cutest!? Cook your hashbrowns according to the package directions. Using a very sharp paring knife cut triangles out of the bottom. Lay on candy eyeballs. You could use ketchup to make eyes and a mouth if you’d prefer.

11. Frankenstein Rice Krispy Treats

How about a giant Rice Krispy Treat!

You’ll need:

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1 bag marshmallows- about 40
  • 1 bag milk chocolate chips
  • Black Icing
  • Green gel food coloring

How to make Frankenstein:

  1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan over medium heat on the stove.
  2. Add the marshmallows (reserve 1 marshmallow for the eyes). Keep stirring until melted and add about 6 drops of green food coloring, or until you reach your desired green shade. Stir until the green food coloring is incorporated into the melted marshmallows.
  3. Take the pan off of the heat. Add the Rice Krispies and stir to combine.
  4. Lightly spray a 9×13 baking dish. Press the Rice Krispies into the dish. I like to spray a spatula with nonstick spray and use that to press the Rice Krispies into the dish. Let cool.
  5. Meanwhile, melt the chocolate chips on the stove or in the microwave on 45 second intervals, stirring after each interval until completely melted. Pour into a piping bag or a gallon size storage bag. Cut the corner off and pipe the chocolate on the Rice Krispies at the top in a triangle pattern and fill in to look like hair.
  6. Cut 1 marshmallow in half. Dot the melted chocolate on the back of each side and place on Frankenstein for eyes.
  7. Use the black icing to make the pupils, eyebrows and the mouth.

12. Prosciutto Mozzarella Eyeballs

Wouldn’t these look great on a Halloween party buffet?

These Mozzarella Prosciutto Eyes are a cinch to assemble. You can make as many or as little as you need.

You’ll need:

  • Fresh mozzarella balls
  • Slices of prosciutto
  • Green olives
  • Optional- balsamic glaze

How to assemble:

  1. Slice each piece of prosciutto in half lengthwise. Cut each olive in half.
  2. Wrap each mozzarella ball with a prosciutto slice and top with an olive half. Arrange on a platter.
  3. Optional- but so delicious! Drizzle with balsamic glaze.
  4. Serve with toothpicks on the side to stab your eyeball.

13. Oogie Boogie Juice

Calling all Nightmare Before Christmas fans! This one is for you! A slimy green Oogie Boogie drink filled with creepy crawlies.

Oogie Boogie Juice Nightmare before christmas

How to make a single serving:

Fill a glass 3/4 with Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch, top with lemon lime soda. Decorate with gummy worms and spiders and bugs.

How to make a lot:

In a large punch bowl combine 1 gallon bottle of Green Berry Rush Hawaiian Punch and a 2 liter bottle of lemon lime soda. Decorate with gummy worms and siders and bugs.

Optional: Fill ice cube trays with gummy bugs and green Hawaiian Punch, freeze and add to the punch bowl to chill the juice drink. As the cubes thaw the gummy bugs will be set free!

14. Caramel Apple Chocolate Bark

Not scary, but delicious and a Halloween must make!

caramel apple chocolate bark

You’ll need:

  • 12 ounce bag of chocolate chips- dark chocolate, semi-sweet, or milk chocolate, your choice
  • 1 large granny smith apple, diced small and blotted with a paper towel to remove moisture
  • Chopped peanuts
  • 1/2 bag of caramels
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Flaky sea salt

How to make Caramel Apple Bark:

  1. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper
  2. Microwave the chocolate chips in 40 second intervals until melted, stirring after each interval
  3. Heat caramels with 1 tbsp water in a bowl in the microwave on 30 second intervals or on the stove in a saucepan over medium heat until melted.
  4. Spread chocolate over the parchment paper in a thin layer using an offset spatula. Top with diced apples. Drizzle caramel sauce over top. Sprinkle over chopped peanuts and sea salt.
  5. Chill 5-10 minutes until set then break into pieces

*as long as you dry the apples with paper towels you shouldn’t have any issues with browning. You can squeeze lemon juice over the cut apples and then blot them, if you prefer.

Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container up to 2 days.
